120 Day Visa for D-7

Hello,

I just received my "temporary 120 day visa" for Portugal which was started in September of this year. Because of delay, I had to keep changing flights to Portugal= so that I would be in the States for when it was approved. Now that I have it, I am a little confused what I can and cannot do during that 120 day timeframe. If anyone has any experience they could share I would greatly appreciate.

Start date per the affixed passport visa is January 28, 2023 however when I picked up from the consulate in San Francisco, I was told that SEF has already scheduled an appointment for me in 4 days (December 22) in Lisbon. I am not sure what to do about this appointment because I will not be able to make that in such short notice and my visa has not officially started. Is one able to reschedule once you are in the country. And if so, what is the process? The SEF website does not give me any options to schedule or reschedule at this time?

Now that I have my 4 month visa, is there a required period that I must be in Portugal? Meaning, out of the 120 days how long must I remain in Portugal? I understand I am allowed 2 entries. I am just trying to coordinate travel without jeopardizing my Visa.

Finally, after a successful SEF appointment and I am granted my initial residence permit, am I allowed to leave and reenter an additional 2 times during the first year? I understand that there is an 8 month residency requirement during that time. Unfortunately, in the first year I will need to use those trips going to the U.S. so planing strategically is of great importance.

Thank you in advance for any comments.
