Purchasing products from U.S.

I just purchased a product from a U.S. company that costs $300 (product not available on Amazon uk, es, de). It will take 10 to 12 business days to ship by mail. Will it need to go through Customs? Does anyone have any similar experience(s) they could share with me? Obrigado.

Check with the vendor. Unless your shipping cost includes duties, you will probably have to pay before your order goes to you. Some us vendors, like Amazon, include this in their shipping, others don't. If you do have to pay, there is a possibility the fees will seem excessive.

I bought a beach umbrella online and a friend in the USA sent it to me. Umbrella cost $48. Postage $76. It went to Customs. I sent in the Value Declaration on 6th May. Have followed up 4 times since. Appears Customs has lost it. I can claim compensation I was told by CTT.

I purchased directly from the company, so I may have to ask what their other customers have done. Fortunately they seem to have decent customer service online. I was so focused on obtaining the product (which I could not locate in Europe) that I zoned out and forgot about customs!
