There is a significant expat community in Knysna, with many retirees from Europe and North America choosing to settle here. This community is quite active, often organizing social events and activities that provide opportunities for interaction and camaraderie. Culturally, Knysna has a lot to offer. The town is home to several art galleries and craft shops, and hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including the famous Knysna Oyster Festival and the Knysna Literary Festival.
