How do I find a place to live in Hoi An?
We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:
"Finding a place to live in Hoi An involves several steps. First, you need to determine your budget and the type of accommodation you're looking for. This could range from a room in a shared house, a serviced apartment, a private house, or even a luxury villa. Next, you should research the different neighborhoods in Hoi An to find one that suits your lifestyle and preferences. Some popular areas include the Ancient Town, Cam Chau, Cam An, and Cua Dai. Each has its own unique charm and advantages. Once you have a clear idea of what you're looking for, you can start your search. There are several online platforms where you can find listings for rentals in Hoi An, such as Facebook groups like "Hoi An Expats" or "Hoi An House and Apartment Rentals", websites like Batdongsan, Muaban, or even Airbnb for short-term rentals. Another effective way to find a place to live is by word of mouth. Ask around, talk to locals, expats, or real estate agents. They might know of available places that aren't listed online. When you find a place that you're interested in, arrange a viewing. Make sure to check the condition of the property, ask about the terms of the lease, and find out what's included in the rent. Once you've found the perfect place, you'll need to negotiate the lease terms and sign a contract. Make sure to read it carefully and understand all the terms before signing. Finally, you'll need to pay a deposit and the first month's rent. After that, you can move into your new home in Hoi An," said one expat in Hoi An.
