Considering Ballenita/La Libertad/Salinas

Hi to all!

I'm a french Canadian looking to go to Ecuador soon in the Salinas area.

I was thinking to go to Ballenita/La Libertad or Salinas. Just to let you know, as a small resume, I'm a very quiet man, I don't want a car, I'm willing to take bus and taxi to go shopping and I want dogs. Then I was thinking that a smaller place can be nicer to rest. I don't need to eat out every day or go entertaining often. What I want to do is playing on the beach (the sand) with my dogs everyday, walk and trek, to have a good internet, meet local people, gardening, reading and enjoy the live! Maybe I will do free internet and computer teaching for Ecuadorian in order to be useful for the society and meet people.

Then, is Ballenita secure for a foreigner (specialty a white blond one, then look as a foreigner)? I had read that in 2012-2013, a series of house invasion as occurs in there.

Is a gated community is the way to go or I can buy a house in an Ecuadorian neighborhood, but with walls all around my land, and live here securely?

I was thinking take contact with Christina Pruitt of Playa Casa Ecuador to do a small tour of the existing casa and free lands on the market. If no existing houses on the market She 's offer to construct house with cement panel, Hormi2 style, that seem to be very nice. I have done a lot of reading about that. Then maybe I will do such construction (house and wall around).

Any constructive advise will be welcome on all of those points and sorry if I do mistakes in English.
