Health Insurance -- Is your medication covered?

Since you will not be able to use your American insurance or Medicare in Ecuador, you may look to secure health insurance. Be sure that your chosen insurance actually covers your medications.
Some expats have discovered that their insurance policies will not cover what are consider "life style caused diseases" such as high blood pressure and clinical depression.
This is a situation some expats discover after the three month waiting period expired on their new health policies they had been sold by insurance salesmen here on the coast and in Cuenca -- despite assurances to the contrary. Have someone fluent in Spanish read your policy before signing anything.
