Banking

Ok guys, I know I have read a lot about this, but I need to be walked through it again. In answers, talk to me like an idiot.
When I retire to Manta, I will have my Army retirement check, my social security, and a small retirement stipend from my current university job. All of these go as direct deposit to Chase bank in Orlando.
Now, by the numbers, what is my best way to handle my banking. I will pay all bills in the States on-line. If I use a debit card in EC, what will the charges be? Thanks, and please be gentle.
