I hope to see you in Salinas at some point. BONCUR, Sorry we missed you in Otovalo. We were only there long enough for the BW (beautiful wife) to pick up some blouses at the mercado. We'd love to talk with you though. I'm sure you could provide us with so much insight. Finally, to TONSKIP. Hi guys, we hope you have found a nice and tolerant home in Cuenca. Listen carefully to MAXXGOLD. He seems very wise. A few months ago, the BW and I attended the HRC dinner in Austin with our son and his partner. ( New Hampshire Bishop Gene Robinson was the guest speaker.) Almost without exception, the men and women in the audience were semi, to formally dressed. There was no show of flamboyance like you might see at a "gay pride" parade; public gestures of affection were kept to a minimum. And the response from the "straights", ie., congressmen and congresswomen and other officials there was totally supportive of ending DADT. (For those of you who may not be aware, DADT stands for the "Don't ask, don't tell", policy the military has been using to keep gays "hidden" for the last several years.) Remember now, we were in Austin, Texas, guys, probably the most progressive city east of San Francisco. But don't expect the same response, YET, in Quito or Cuenca. Buenos Aires has changed. Give Ecuador a little time.
