OK, let me begin again. I'm coming to Ecuador Jan 15 and returning Feb 12. I'll be in Quito Jan 15, 16 & 17 and am considering the Hotel de San Francisco in Quito. Does anyone have knowledge of that hotel or can recommend another one?

Than, I'll fly down to Cuenca from Jan 18 - Jan 28. Is anyone familiar with hotels in Cuenca and can recommend one? I'm not into the fancy, expensive Gringo hotels. I'm leaving that all behind. Just a nice place with food and near the center of town is all I need.

From Cuenca, I'll be going to Manta or Salinas. How about there? Anyone know of good places to stay in those places?

Would love to hear recommendations from folks who know the local areas and can recommend hotels, restaurants, etc.
