Cancelled flight caused Visa overstay

So..... Now i have the $772 fine or two year ban.
I decided that $772 can take me far in getting to other destinations in the next two years.
Better than paying to return to Ecuador and then paying an added $772 just to be allowed back in.

I booked my flight to get me out of Ecuador the night that my 90 day tourist stay expired.
It worked last year but not this year. Bad weather put me over 24 hours delayed.
Ended up at immigration exit point thinking they would have the option for me to to apply special circumstances like cancelled flight due to bad weather, but that was not the case.
I guess i could petition for a review of the ban/fine, at the immigration office but that is too much time, travel and effort from outside of Ecuador.

If a cancelled flight from Bad weather is no exception, i doubt anything would be an exception to the overstay rules.

Next time i will book myself takeoff out of Ecuador, 3 days before tourist stay expires.
And Keep Colmbia open as a destination to fall back on if Ecuador falls apart for me again.

Things fall apart eventually and good thing i like Colombia and Mexico. They can easily fill up two years worth of detinations for me.
