What is it like to retire in Nijmegen?

"Life for a retiree in Nijmegen, can be quite fulfilling and vibrant. The city is known for its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and friendly locals, making it an ideal place for retirees who appreciate culture, nature, and a sense of community. Nijmegen is home to a diverse expat community, which is quite active. There are numerous clubs and organizations where expats can meet, share experiences, and engage in various activities. This makes it easier for retirees from different parts of the world to integrate and make new friends. Culturally, Nijmegen has a lot to offer. The city is the oldest in the Netherlands, and its history can be explored through its many museums, such as the Valkhof Museum, which houses a collection of Roman antiquities. The city also hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen, a world-renowned walking event. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Nijmegen is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, including the Ooijpolder nature reserve and the hilly region of Berg en Dal.
