When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Mexico, they replied...

"Private health care is excellent although you will probably have to go to Queretaro, Celaya or Leon for MRIs, cancer treatments etc.. Government health services such as IMSS are really a last resort but might be the only option for the elderly with limited financial resources. Health insurance is a must as even though private health care is less expensive than in the USA or Europe any serious accident or illness will easily cost many millions of pesos. Insurance premiums are reasonable when young but once 60+ years will increasingly become unaffordable," explained one expat living in Mexico.

"Medical services in Mexico vary depending on the region. Generally, the country has a wide range of medical facilities, including public and private hospitals, clinics, and medical centers. Many of these facilities offer quality care and modern medical technology. In addition, Mexico has a number of specialized medical centers that provide specialized care for specific conditions. Mexico also has a number of medical tourism destinations, where people from other countries can receive medical care at a lower cost than in their home countries," said another in Mexico.
