Moving to Riyadh

Hi,

I'm after some advice and peoples experience of moving over to Riyadh. I have recently been offered a position working for a large organisation based in Riyadh. I am married but if I accept the position after discussing it long and hard with my wife and our 14 year old son we have decided that at this moment in time it would be better for me to move out there on my own. The primary reason for this is that our son is 14 now and will be taking his GCSE's within the next 2 years, and whilst we have no doubt that the schooling in Saudi is excellent, we feel that he would be better positioned to sit his exams over in the UK.

It is looking likely that I will be offered accomodation in the sedervillage compound. I have looked at this on the internet and it looks really nice - I was just wondering if anyone had experiences of living at this compound?

Also I would be hoping to buy a laptop in Saudi when I arrived and would ideally like to have access to MSN Messenger (preferably with a webcam) i order that I can see/speak to my family/friends as often as possible? Does anone have any experience good or bad of contacting / keeping in touch with family back home?

As I would initally be moving out to Saudi on my own I was wondering if there are people in similar circusmtances to me and how they cope with being away from their family. Obviously my family will visit as often as possible - again I was just wondering if anyone has advice/experience of this?

Well, I think my email has gone on for long enough now...I'd be very happy to hear your experiences of living in Saudi especially from people who are in similar circumstances to what I could be?
