Work Visa Classfication...Is it important when working in Saudi?

I have been offered a position in Saudi Arabia working for a company in the Dhahran area. The company is working on finalizing my visa papers. The prospective employer says that the only "available" visa type is not what I was hired to do. According to the employer, and this is a quote, "I don't need to be concerned with this classification issue and it is for visa processing purposes only. Nothing will change as far as job description agreed upon once I get to Saudi Arabia." The company rep says this happens all the time and legal issues have never arose affecting their ex-pat foreign employees in the 25 years he has been at the company.

Okay, I have been advised by several friends, all with international oil industry experience, that what the company is doing is not right. My friends don't see why the company can't get me the proper work visa, why hire me with out the proper visa type in hand. One individual I am friends with who lives in China says, misclassifying job descriptions just to get people in to work happens all the time.

My question then is: Am I taking too big a risk accepting a work visa not in my job category? I'm a safety engineer who will be teaching, and not a language specialist as the work visa will say I am.:confused:
Could I possibly get screwed?
