I moved to Riyadh recently and here are some advices i recieved

the country is very hot

the common colors are gray, brown and yellow ( buildings, desert ...)

i live in riyadh so i will transfer you my experience in Riyadh:

Hospitals are okay, best hospitals i visited:
King Faisal Specialized Hospital
Suleman Habib

Saudi Arabia is an indoor country, cause of heat and other factors.

Majority of foriegners are indians/ bangladishis, egypians, yeminis

Good places to shop:
Carefour/ Hyper Panda

to buy furnitures visit IKEA, AlMutlaq, AlAmer

to buy Electronics, visit EXTRA, ELECTRO

To buy books/Laptops visit: JARIR

Restaurents? eat at compounds restaurents or restaurents within the Diplomatic area (i recommend the italian restaurent there) , also you can eat in AlMamlakah mall ( located in AlMamlakah tower), Faisaliah mall ( located in AlFaisaliah tower) you wont miss these two towers, also there is a very nice restaurent located inside the giagantic ball you will see at the top of AlFaisaliah tower ( it is called the globe restaurent, you should make reservation by phone before going)

You better make lots and lots of friends

Women cant drive a car here regretfully but bring your license in case you go to Bahrain

You cant drink AlCohol, or find any or bring with you any.

Women should wear something called Abaya ( black coat ) when they go outside compounds

Bahrain is a very nice place, you will find alcohol, pubs, bars, take of your Abaya and most important you can drive there ( make sure to ask about regulations on driving in Bahrain using your local driving license, i also think that women in riyadh do have driving licenses but they cant drive)

Good malls to visit and buy clothes and have your kids play and jump around:
AlMamlakah
AlFaisaliah ( have a mini amusement park for kids)
Sahara ( have a mini amusement park for kids)

Good hotels here:
Four seasons located in AlMamlakah

Khozama located near Faisaliah

Marriot

You can start learning another language, looking for a gym club, for men a good club named Body champions is a very good gym.
