I haven't been able to find black beans anywhere in france and i miss them sorely. I have a french cookbook which contains a recipe with black beans, so I know they are not unheard of here. My tex-mex dishes just don't work as well with kidney beans.
any help would be appreciated.

Hi, my name is Charlotte Leslie and I am the managing editor for Texas Travel & History Magazine based in Houston. I will bring you black beans and anything else you might like (in the Tex-Mex line) if you can introduce me to some Texans living in France. I will be over later this year and want to interview Texas expats in France for an article. Thanks for your help, Charlotte. ttheditor@hotmail.com

I feel exactly the same about black beans! I have found them on occasion in a health food store in Lille, where I live. (One time when I was purchasing them, the store owner asked me what I used them for!) So now, I check every health food store I come across!

You can find black beans in France at Asian Markets. I have been able to find them there consistently in different towns in france. They are also cheaper than they are in health food stores.

I found them (and also pinto beans) at a Bhahadourian store (I live in Lyon and there are 2 of them). It's an Arab type market with a TON of stuff.
I put out a plea for Jalapeno peppers earlier in August and never did find them here, but I have 3 dried ones that I plan to plant from seed next year!
Where are you in France?

Carrefour stores here in france have them in their international food section. NOTE www.cravingamerica.com pop tarts to mac & cheese, just tell Paula what you want.
