Teaching english in Paris

Right then, I am a British student on a gap year. I'm actually French and Irish by descent, and have lots of family in the South of France, but my French is currently only average, but quickly improving.

I am planning on living in Paris from December of this year to September of the next. I, of course, need a job to maintain me while I'm there, and as my French isn't incredible, I was thinking about being a language assistant at a school.

How much english might I have to know? I remember when I was in school, we had an assistant in French who spoke no English, and simply graded us on our French and taught pronunciation - is such a job possible in Paris? Could I sustain myself on the wages of such a job?

I'm going to Central Africa and then India this year, so I need as much advice as possible so I can organise this with the relatively little amount of time I'll have this year.

I reall really hope you guys can help. I'm hopign to get some contact details out of this for primary or secondary schools (pref primary :) ) so I could enquire as to availability.

Oh and also, does anyone know how possible it would be for me to obtain cheap student-marketed accomodation in Paris?
