Need advice

Hi I am very new to this forum. I am English, very fluent francophone and I also have a good degree of competence in Italian and German. In all cases, written as well as spoken. I have recently been made redundant in the UK for the second time in 3 years and am now seriously considering the option that I have had in my mind for several years, which is to move to France to find work. I lived there many years ago, on two occasions, once to work and once to study.
I know that it is not going to be easy for me to be able to find a job and obtain a work permit simultaneously and I am currently looking into jobs in France that are offered through the Jobcentres over here, which may be an easier way to get one foot in the door over there?
One other big problem I have which is what I could use some advice on: I have a dog that I don't want to leave behind. I am aware of the procedures for taking her abroad and the restrictions that may apply if I needed to bring her back again. But I have absolutely no idea how stringent the rental situation is nowadays in France pertaining to animals. Years ago it was quite accepted for people in rented property even in Paris, to have a dog in the apartment. In the UK it is very very hard to find rental accomodation if you have a dog or cat.
Does anyone know what the current situation is in France??
My ideal position would be as a live-in housekeeper or similar and presumably I would need to approach the individual employer re: the dog aspect?
I have seen online agencies for this kind of work or similar but they all require you to register with a fee and right now I have absolutely no spare cash as I have no income, just a very basic and pathetically low Jobseeker Allowance. Does anyone know of any free agancies that I could register with?
I am currently redoing my CV in French, having met a snag as the online French language keyboard I used to use is not agreeing with my OS and I am trying to find another suitable one to download.

If anyone can give me guidance on any of the above points raised, I would be so grateful.
Sorry that this post is somewhat long.
