Seeking Advice from the older folk out there.

So, I am 23 and finishing my undergrad in international relations in the fall. Though before that, I will be returning this summer to France with my girlfriend of 2 years and will be getting married and I will be legal to work/have residence. So far so good... I expect to complete my masters in France at some point but this is where everything gets a bit complicated.

1. My french is functional but by no means capable of graduate level work, and even more, if I wanted to start, it is impossible until the following fall because french universities are like that (impossible to start mid year apparently).

2. I have considered looking for an american institution, though the prices with something like that are enormous and if there is a possibility that in a couple years I can get my masters at a french institution (at a severely discounted rate) I would prefer that. (If anyone has any info on my restrictions on education based of my explanation please let me know).

3. I need to find work for the time being to support myself when we arrive, I don't need anything spectacular, just enough to pay rent/bills/food. We are most likely going to be moving to Marseilles, though after recently speaking to her father, I have become aware of how difficult a task this may be (finding work). I will honestly take anything.

4. After graduation I can probably pull a few months of help from my parents till I get on my feet so I have a bit of breathing room.

So, the insight I seek is regarding: Best opportunity for ANY kind of work and where I should begin looking, whether or not the idea of the American institution should be considered more seriously and more over just general insight from any of those who have made such a move.

Thanks to anyone who might lend me some of their experience!
