Bonjour!

We are a couple from NYC.

We will be coming to the Dordogne area in early October (1-11).

We are exploring our options about moving to France from the US.

We would like to meet up with expats in the area while we are there and listen to their stories! &/or if there are any type of meet ups/events in the area, we would love to attend.

Merci!
Ilona

Hello Ilona,
Lived for awhile on Long Island but moved to France from Texas in 2016, to The Languedoc, as I prefer seacoast and warmer winters.
You will love France.
A good place to connect with fellow US expats in Dordogne will be Facebook — join and post your request on pages like Americans Living in France, Americans Retiring in France, Americans Enjoying France, Expat Life in France.
None of these are linked specifically to someone’s business; some others are, and they’ll want you to hire them so they can sell you property or services. Lots of free advice and personal anecdotes available, but be careful not to follow all tips when it comes to government processes.
Your best source for those will be your local Prefecture website and nationally registered relocation companies.

A couple from the UK who retired in France enjoy the cultural activities of nearby Carcassonne and Narbonne, being close to the coast and the beautiful vineyards that surround them. They confess to be having a tougher learning French than if they were younger, but know they will persevere.
