Housing costs vary widely as they do in the US. We live in the Correze region, and price was a factor in making our choice, but quality of life was equally weighted and we landed in Brive. Brive has about 40-45 K residents and has every convince we were used to when living in the greater Puget Sound region, be it at a much slower pace. Prices are cheaper a bit more north in the Haute-Vienne region, but you might be far from conveniences like train stations, larger stores and theaters. Good luck

Friends sold their house in Bend, OR, and moved to Foix, after also considering Limoux. They really like Foix (I've visited them). It has enough services and shops, great and inexpensive train service to Toulouse (one hour) and its airport. Their house cost about 320,000 euro, which is about one-third of what a similar house would cost in Bend (or much of the West Coast US) these days.

Foix also has excellent roads for cycling, great hiking in the nearby Pyrenees, and access to. Andorra for downhill or cross-country skiing. I'd note that one can find even less expensive homes elsewhere in Ariege.

Are they permanent residents in Foix now or do they need to leave after the 90-day stay limit?
Thanks...
