Electricity supply

ENEL Italy's national electricity supplier will be withdrawing from the market by March 2019 and users will have to move to an alternative supplier. There are numerous alternatives on the market and can be Googled.

One company to avoid is Illumia!

DO NOT give this company your bank details. We enquired about their service and after a few calls for further information decided to go with them on 9 April. We were told the transfer would take two months and the contract (which like many companies) could not be sent before agreeing by way of a recorded phone transaction - in any case we had 14 days to change our minds.

The contract arrived on 21 April and later that day I mentioned it to my neighbour who told me he had given them a try but had to cancel the contract. On 22 April I reviewed the contract, noticed the tariff was almost the double that shown on the company's website and on looking at their online reviews could not find one customer who spoke well of the company.

On 23 April I sent the cancellation via e-mail form as requested followed by a separate e-mail. The following day I called the company to confirm they had received the form. I was quite surprised to be told the transfer would be going ahead and that it couldn't be stopped.

I immediately called ENEL explaining the situation and asked them to block the transfer. Surprise again because they told me they were in no position to do so as ENEL is only a supplier. On 1 May we received a message from Illumia informing us that our connection was active WITH THEM!
